Responsibilities
The Radford Electric Department (RED) is one of more than 2,000 nationwide publicly owned electric utilities serving the citizens of its community. Known as a Municipal Utility in the electric industry, the RED serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the City of Radford. RED has the capability to meet any customer’s power demand and service voltage requirements.
Potential Customers
Potential customers will need to complete an application from the Billing Office and obtain an approved inspection from the Building Official before service can be provided.
Power Failure
In case of power failure, please contact the Electric Department during regular business hours at 540-731-3641.
For reporting a power failure/outage AFTER NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS, Nights, Weekends or Holidays, contact the After Hours Call Center by calling 540-432-3945.
Please note that during a power outage the Police Department becomes overwhelmed with calls reporting the power outage. It is typically not necessary to call unless you have medical needs, safety concerns or your power has been out for an extended period of time.
