The Radford City Police Department is an Accredited Agency certified through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC). The goal of accreditation is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth through the delivery of services; to promote cooperation among all components in the criminal justice system; to insure the appropriate level of training for law enforcement personnel; and to promote public confidence in law enforcement.
Procedural Review
To achieve and maintain accredited certification, the Radford City Police Department must constantly and consistently review policies and procedures and produce documentation to show adherence to the 187 standards set forth by the commission. The department has been a VLEPSC Accredited Agency since 2001 and has be recertified every 4 years with the most recent recertification being given in January 2010.
