K-9 Memorial

The Radford City Police Department activated its K-9 unit in 2002.
Dusty
Sergeant Chris Caldwell and his K-9 Dusty served as the department’s only K-9 unit for 4 years. Born on June 14, 1999, Dusty was a tremendous asset to the department and excelled in drug detection leading to many drug arrests.

Dusty was retired in 2006 and lived his retirement in the care of Sgt. Caldwell. The department, and especially Sergeant Caldwell, suffered the loss of this faithful co-worker on May 24,  2009 due to natural causes.

Jake
K-9 Officer Jake was born on December 30, 2003. He was a faithful member of the department from January 2009 until his retirement. K-9 Officer Jake was handled by Officer Rob Stultz and specialized in narcotics detection.

Jake served the Radford City Police Department, the Claytor Lake Drug Task Force, and surrounding jurisdictions when called upon. Officer Stultz and the department suffered the loss of this faithful co-worker on June 21, 2011.
