Parks & Fishing
Of Radford's 14
parks, 2 offer ready access to the New River, where enthusiasts can
boat, kayak, canoe, or tube on the gentle, clear water.
The
fish are also constantly biting, with muskie and smallmouth bass being
the favorites. Take to the river on your own or leave it to the local
experts and book a guided fishing trip.
The parks also offer
numerous picnicking, hiking, and recreation opportunities, as well as 4
stops on the Virginia Wildlife and Birding Trail.
Trails
Points on Virginia’s Civil War Trail and Wilderness Road can also be
found in Radford, in addition to the homestead of pioneer Mary Draper
Ingles, best known for her 700+ mile trek back home after being
kidnapped by a Shawnee tribe.
Radford University
Radford University (RU)
also hosts numerous theater, art, dance, and music productions
throughout the year. RU’s Planetarium also creates an interesting option
to consider while in Radford.
