Books
All donations of books or other materials become the property of the library and may be added to the collection or sold by the Lamplighters at the library’s discretion. Items not accepted include but are not limited to magazines, old encyclopedias, textbooks, items in poor condition (musty, mildew, damaged, etc.), dated technology and equipment (VHS, cassettes), and Readers’ Digest condensed books. Additionally, RPL will likely not accept donations of materials or equipment that will require upkeep or other financial demands involving staff time or library budget. Donation Receipts are available upon request.
A quarterly Lamplighters Book Sale is organized and staffed by the Lamplighters for a full weekend each February, May, August, and November. The Lamplighters also maintain an ongoing "Itty Bitty Book Sale" just inside the entrance to the library.
Monetary Donations
Monetary gifts for the collection are particularly welcome and may be donated directly to the Radford Public Library, or the Lamplighters. Unless otherwise specified, funds donated will be used to purchase items in accordance with the Collection Development Policy. Donors may request special memorial and honorary bookplates and/or family notification.
