Teen Activities

Teen Zone

The Radford Public Library has, for many years, served as a safe place for teenagers to come after school while waiting to be picked up by their parents. The Teen Zone was built specifically for this age group. In addition to a large collection of books, the young adult area also offers recorded audio books, and magazines, all available for check out.  Teens are also invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program offered each year.

During the school week, the Teen Zone is for teens only from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm and a full-time staff member is present.  Activities can (but may not always) include access to ukuleles and a guitar, board games, a chalk wall, and occasional crafts. There is also an outdoor patio where teens are free to eat snacks in the afternoons.  Throughout the school year, the library will also host events for teens the same way it hosts events for children and adults.

Previous events have included: Tie Dye, video game nights, lock-ins, poetry readings, and gross-out food challenges, just to name a few.
